THEMES Relationship between scientific education and EE; Environment and economy: global trends and implications for education; Empowerment of women, water and social justice; Health education; Pedagogical changes in environmental education; Indigenous ways of knowing in environmental learning and local/global discourses; Local realities, global responsibilities; Research and innovation.
PARTICIPANTS 1000 from more than 100 countries.
ABSTRACT The Fourth Congress was organized, within the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). The theme made way for a critical reflection on the role of both practical and theoretical education.
It was divided into 13 thematic sessions, workshops, poster-corners, parallel events, visits to the territory to explore the socio-cultural richness of South Africa.
The Vice President of the Republic opened the proceedings. SADC ministres and representatives and the 14 members of southern Africa economic community partecipated in the Congress.
