Magroves, dunes or delaika? 12 field trips are waiting for you at 12WEEC

Twelve field trips are planned during the 12th WEEC, connecting theory with practice.  The morning, afternoon, or full day sessions provide participants with the opportunity to explore many of the landscapes and environmental education landmarks in and around Abu Dhabi. Transport is included.

Field Trips provide participants with the opportunity to explore many of the landscapes and environmental education landmarks in and around Abu Dhabi.

Delaika Conservation & Breeding Facility is the home of 5 000 animals and consists of three species: Mountain Gazelles, Arabian Oryx & Sand Gazelles; it was established to preserve the Arabian Oryx from extinction and now has the largest population of the species in the world.

Samaliya Island is a tranquil nature reserve featuring flora and fauna native to the country, as well as exotic species; it also features centres that teach equestrian sports, camel racing, fish breeding and honey making.

Eastern Mangrove National Park is one of Abu Dhabi’s key ecological systems, protecting and enhancing the mangrove cover that plays a vital role in mitigating climate change.

Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Protected Area comprises more than 1 700 fossil dunes spread over 7 square kilometres, one of the largest concentration of fossil dunes in the emirate.

Gracia Farm is an innovative model of future farming, representing a platform that unites local farmers in the UAE and contributes to achieve sustainable food security in the Emirate.

Jubail Mangrove Park major goal is to raise awareness and understanding of the important ecological functions of the mangrove habitats; the public can enjoy amazing natural view on boardwalks or kayaking.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, a nature reserve consisting of both natural and man-made bodies of water, known for its remarkable population of Greater Flamingos.

Masdar City is an innovation hub and a pioneering sustainable community in Abu Dhabi, featuring renewable energy systems, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative architecture.

Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital was established to support the culture of traditional Arabic falconry and has become the largest falcon hospital in the world.

Aquaculture Centre mission is to protect and take care of injured marine wildlife, while also allowing the public the chance to experience a wide range of marine species.

Sea World Research and Rescue Centre is the first-of-its-kind dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation, and return centre in the region, serving as an advanced knowledge hub for marine science.

The National Aquarium Al Quana is an aesthetically pleasing location, allowing the public the chance to experience our wide range of species without having to venture into deep waters – making it a vital educational tool.
